The people are so, so happy. 220 houses are on the new water
system and this is serving 1700-1800 people. People on the old
system are already wanting new water. We ended up buying an
additional 10,000 feet of pipe and a total project cost of about
$14,000. People have stopped us on the road to come and look at
their water. It is pure, it is clean and it is wonderful. On
July 20, the town had a celebration to welcome the new water.
There were bands, food and of course speeches, many, many
speeches. Dianne and I were guests of honor. We were presented
with official Mayan outfits which we had to wear.
We would like to thank the people of
Mt. Tabor UMC. Because of them and their vision and their
generous hearts the people of Paquila are not suffering as much
and they have a chance for better health for years to come. You
probably will never really know how much good you have added to
this little corner of the world. To the people of Paquila who
will not ever read this. May God bless you. What an amazing
thing you have accomplished through prayer and hard work. A
special thanks to Pastor Gaspar. Without his vision and
leadership we would have never started this project.
